2012 Iowa Caucus
Romneybot 2000 v.12 wins the Iowa Caucus. I call him Romneybot 2000 because his entire
campaign seems to be based on a program where you go out, spout some poll
approved rhetoric and coast into the nomination. He reminds me of John Kerrybot from
2004. Remember 2004? Everybody hated Bush and wanted him out of
office, but all the Democrats could put forward was John Kerry. Really?
That’s the best you could do? He
was so absolutely uninspiring that Bush won 4 more years. If the Iowa trend were to continue (and the Rom-need-ia
gets what they have been aching for), we are on track for an Obama
reelection. Is there a more uninspiring
Republican candidate than Romney? Romney
won Iowa because he won all the Democratic districts of Iowa. About 1/3 of all his votes came from Des
Moines, Cedar Rapids and Davenport. All
3 counties almost always vote democrat.
Obama will likely carry those same counties in 2012. See for yourself.

Santorum had a great night. I only wish he were a decent candidate. And I mean that in a sincere way, not in a
pundit “can he beat Obama” kind of way.
He might do so-so on the economic issues, but his social issues are too extreme. That’s the problem with the “right wing”. They think they can legislate their religious
beliefs into law. I thought the point of
freedom of religion was so that we could believe what we want and answer to God
for our lives when we die? We have the
freedom to CHOOSE. Legislating your beliefs
removes the freedom of choice. I hope
you’re not wrong, or else we are all hosed. Say, didn’t that idea fail during
the 20’s? Anyone remember
prohibition? More recently, we elected a
president in 2008 (with congressional control) that had a lot of social issues
he felt strongly about. He passed a few
hundred laws to control our lives so that we live the way he thinks we should,
but they never managed to balance the budget.
If Santorum gets elected it’ll be the same thing. We’ll all be debating gay marriage and
abortion and a hundred other things that won’t matter. And while we are fighting Iran can nukes us
and China can foreclose on the rest of us.
I swear! It’s like the
2012 election is going to be like shopping for an STD. Would I prefer burning or itching? Do I HAVE to pick one? I think I’d rather just go without for the
next 4 years. Can I vote for that? I’m with Brewster this year. I’ll probably vote for “None of the Above”.
Don’t we have bigger issues?
I just want a candidate who has his priorities in the right place. Fix the economy (by getting government out of
the way), defend our country (militarily and economically) and get the hell out
of my life! The federal government has
two very simple jobs. National Defense
and make sure all the states play nice with each other. That’s pretty much it!! How the hell are we spending $3.5 TRILLION a
year on that? I swear the federal
government is becoming so absolutely incompetent that I’m beginning to wonder
if moving to Mexico and paying drug cartels protection money would be both cheaper
and net more results than paying taxes to the idiots here. At least the cartels will be honest and call
it extortion. Our next president should
be focused on dismantling the federal government. Currently there are no candidates who will
get the job done.
*Yes, Ron Paul is the closest to that. I honestly believe he would try, but I do not
think he could get the job done. At best
congress will unite against him and nothing will happen for 4 years. So he could be the “None of the Above” vote. I don’t think any of the other candidates are
serious about reducing the size of government.
The problem we have now is that both parties want bigger
government, they just want it to do different things. In fact, the only laws they can pass during these
days of “extreme partisanship” are laws that restrict our freedoms. The only thing they can agree on is restricting
our freedom of speech, taxing our behaviors, bypassing our right to due process
and passing out favors to campaign contributors; all while Americans continue
to sleep through it or point fingers at the “other” guys. Both parties are screwing us; they just
disagree on which way they want to do it.
Most of these “battles” in Washington are smoke screens. It’s the most basic of smoke and mirror acts. Look over here!! Look over here!! Harrumph! Harrumph! Pay no attention to what we are doing behind
the curtain. A “budget battle” over how
little they will cut in future spending increases?!?!? Really America? You fell for that? That’s like your boss, who hasn’t given you a
raise in 3 years, telling you he’s only going to take a 9.5% pay increase next
year instead of a 10% pay increase. So
he is suffering just as much as you. –
And you freaking bought it.
It’s time for a 3rd party. Think about this for a minute. What if a small government party (like the
Libertarians) gained just 10% of the seats in congress? 45%R – 45%D and 10%L. That means NOTHING gets done unless it
shrinks government. A 3rd
party would effectively “block” any attempts to grow government. No party will have a majority. The only proposals that would get majority
support are the ones that repeal and shrink government. If the R’s and the D’s want to restrict our
freedoms then, they would have to join together against the 3rd
party to do it. I doubt they would do
that, however, because they couldn’t do it quietly the way they do now.
It won’t happen though.
There’s probably 20%-30% of Americans who feel the same way, but they
are have been convinced that voting for a 3rd party means “throwing
their vote away”. BOTH parties in power
have used fear to control you enough to keep you pulling either a red lever or
a blue one – even when you don’t like them.
Duh. Why would you vote for
someone you do not agree with? Hopefully
the Libertarians put forth somebody who at least believes in something – like the
Fair Tax. Now THAT’s an economic plan
that would fix about half of the problems we are currently facing. Too bad nobody has the guts to do what’s
right for the country. Our leaders are
all spineless eunuchs, but we keep electing them because we are afraid that if
we speak out, we won’t be heard.
But maybe that’s just me.
Maybe Romney is actually hyper-inspirational. Maybe there’s a difference between him and
Obama. Maybe there’s a republican in the
race that has an original thought in their head. Or maybe I’ll just write-in Cthullu on my
ballot. I mean, why vote for the lesser
evil?
