The Affordable Coffee Act and the Cinnamon Debate
In 2012 the Affordable Coffee Act (known as Obamafeine) dictates that
all consumers of coffee purchase a cinnamon stick in their coffee. This caused an outcry of people of a certain
faith who do not believe in cinnamon and, in fact, believe cinnamon is a
sin. They cried for their religious
freedom to not consume cinnamon sticks and there was further outrage at being
forced to purchase cinnamon sticks. In
fact, many of them only buy coffee from coffee shops that are 100% cinnamon-free
so that they are not indirectly supporting cinnamon.
In response to this outcry President Obama declared that
people of faith would not have to purchase cinnamon sticks. Instead, he would force ALL coffee shops to
provide cinnamon sticks to anyone who wanted them free of charge. Congress agrees that the Affordable Coffee
Act gives the president the authority over coffee shops to do that. So, in the end, the anti-cinnamon religious
folks were happy and it was hailed as a great compromise.
But there are a few of us who still ask two simple
questions:
Why Did Congress Pass A Law That Forces Consumers To Buy
Something?
And
Why Does The President Have The Authority To Force A
Business To Provide Something?
The Contraception debate is NOT a religious debate!!! It is a free market, personal liberty and
free will debate. No one should ever be
forced to do something against their will by the U.S Government and certainly
not by a single individual who happens to be President.
Carry this thought process through folks. If Obama has the right to force insurance
companies to provide FREE contraception, whether they want to or not, then he
also has the right to force them to cover abortion or to cover fertility
treatments or to cover penis enlargement or breast implants or hair implants or chest waxing. On the other side of the coin, a President Sanatorium (purposely misspelled) could force insurance companies to not cover any of those things. A future President Jumanji (a known voodoo
witch doctor) might outlaw the coverage of penicillin because it has bad “joo
joo”.
So I will repeat the questions for the cheap seats:
WHY DID CONGRESS PASS A LAW THAT FORCES CONSUMERS TO BUY
SOMETHING?
And
WHY DOES THE PRESIDENT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO FORCE A
BUSINESS TO PROVIDE SOMETHING?
No Government should force a consumer to buy something, nor should
it force a business to provide something . . . . . EVER. End of story.
*if I offended any Voodoo witch doctors with my ignorance of your views toward penicillin I apologize. Please don't turn me into a craw-fish.
